A beautifully balanced example of a hand-woven Afghan Chobi (also spelled Choubi), crafted in northern Afghanistan using traditional vegetable-dyed wool.
The palette combines soft forest-green and ivory with accents of garnet red and sage — a timeless and quite rare combination that feels both grounded and refined. The design features flowing palmettes and vine scrolls framed by a wide border, reflecting classic Persian Ziegler influence interpreted through Afghan artistry.
Each Chobi is woven on a horizontal loom by village weavers using hand-spun, high-mountain wool and natural dyes derived from walnut husk, pomegranate skin, madder root, and indigo. This piece is mid- to late-20th century, approximately 30–40 years old, and displays the even knotting and lustrous surface typical of fine Afghan craftsmanship.
