An exceptional and rare example of Grant Featherston’s A310H Space Chair, designed and produced in the early 1950s. This model represents a transitional moment in Featherston’s career — bridging the soft, organic sculpting of his celebrated Contour Series with the forward-looking geometry that defined his Space line.
Unlike later iterations featuring a seat–back “void,” this solid-shell variant showcases a seamless silhouette — a continuous, enveloping form that cradles the sitter. The chair’s sculptural presence, accentuated by its splayed solid timber legs, reflects Featherston’s fascination with biomorphic design and modern materials.
