1960s
A beautifully reupholstered pair of Australian mid-century classic armchairs and widely considered to be amongst the most desirable mid century designs ever produced — the Narvik armchairs by Fler.
Known for their refined architectural lines and superb comfort, the Narvik design captures the Scandinavian influence that defined Fler’s golden era. The sculptural solid timber frames feature elegant tapered legs, and whale bone shaped arms that give the chairs a light, balanced presence in a room.
This pair has been beautifully reupholstered, bringing a fresh, contemporary softness while respecting the integrity of the original design.
The new upholstery enhances both comfort and usability, making these equally suited to everyday living as they are to a considered interior setting.

Fler Furniture, Australia
FLER is one of the most important names in Australian mid-century design — and like many great modernist stories, it began with migration, resilience, and reinvention.
The company was founded in Melbourne in 1946 by two European Jewish migrants:
- Fred Lowen
- Ernest Rodeck
Both had fled Nazi Europe and arrived in Australia via the Dunera in 1940. They met in internment at Tatura and formed a partnership that would go on to shape how modern Australian homes looked.
Released in 1961, the Narvik range became one of their most iconic designs combining relaxed seating with sculptural Scandinavian inspired lines.
