An impressive mid-20th century six-panel folding coromandel, beautifully hand-painted and gilt with scenes of Chinese mythology. One panel shows a scholar riding a dragon through the waves, while another depicts a celestial maiden borne aloft on a phoenix, all set against a shimmering gold-leaf ground.
The calligraphy on the right panel reads 龍鳳呈祥 (“Dragon and Phoenix Bring Prosperity”), a classic blessing symbolising harmony, marital bliss, and abundance. Finished with lacquered black frames, red cloud borders, and brass hinges, this piece makes a dramatic statement in any interior.
