Originating in South East Asia, bronze frog drums had multiple uses.
When tipped upside down, they were often used for storing valuables including jewellery and rice grains for the following season. Items were carefully packed and then buried underground for safety.
Highly prized items, they were passed down to the first born son and in some cases all or part of the drum was even buried with the original owner.
The drum we have in stock at present features an extensive display of intricate rings, geometric patterns and designs, with a 12 pointed star in the centre. Decorations continue along the outside also with solid bronze frogs climbing up the outside edge and handles at the outer edge.
Dimensions: 52 high x 59 diameter
